4 tips to get the most out of your eyelash extensions

How to get the most out of your eyelash extensions

Applying makeup is an art form, to me. The past year I have developed a slight obsession with any and all makeup products (I'm speeding toward being a Platinum Ulta member). But as much as I love painting my face, getting up early before work makes it slightly less enjoyable.

Every day I work on cutting down my time so I can sleep in just a little bit longer. One solution I love is eyelash extensions! When I had my extensions, doing my makeup suddenly became so much quicker. No mascara needed, and some days, not even eyeliner!

This is what I stress to my clients who inquire about extensions: their routine will become so much faster. However, they do require upkeep and educating yourself is essential before letting your lash artist go to work. Here are four tips to consider to get the most out of your extensions!

Extensions remove the need for mascara!

Avoid moisture for 48 hours

This time may vary depending on the adhesive used (your lash artist should let you know). Before the adhesive cures, moisture can break it down, causing extensions to fall off. This includes sweat and tears!

Don't worry, you can still take a shower. Just throw on some swim or tanning goggles to protect those peepers.

Don't pick!

The most important part of having extensions is to keep your hands off! Picking not only removes the extension, but can also damage or break off your real last. If the extensions are extremely annoying and just not for you, return to your lash artist for safe removal.

Extensions are the perfect way to amp up your look.

Watch how you sleep

Everybody has a specific way they fall — and stay — asleep. It's tough to rewire yourself to sleep in a different position, but if you're a tummy or side sleeper, it may be time to switch to your back.

Sleeping face down or on your side will smush or tangle your lashes, making them look clumped and leading to quicker fall out. Try to sleep on your back after getting extensions to make them last longer.

Brush them out

Just like natural lashes, extensions can "stick" together after sleeping or showering. With a small spoolie brush, comb them out every morning and throughout the day to keep them looking beautiful!
