Drugstore faves (because beauty doesn't have to be expensive)
I pride myself in being the queen of finding a good sale. TJ Maxx, Burlington, Kroger, Home Goods, you name it, I've saved hundreds of dollars there. I get a thrill out of it. I think to date, my best shopping adventure came when I found a leather jacket that was originally close to $200 and I got it for less than $10.
Hold your applause, please.
I've come a long way from buying $5 face wash and acne products, though. I now prefer buying higher quality products for my skin care because they have higher quality ingredients. But there are still a few drugstore favorites that I can't let go of because they work.
There's nothing wrong with buying a $1 Wet 'n Wild lip color. Or a $6 Nyx eyeliner. $7 body lotion? Bring it on. If something proves its worth to me, I keep coming back. Check out a few of my favorite drugstore items below!
Nivea Creme
If I ever get stranded on an island, I want this to be one of my items I'm allowed to have.
What originally got me hooked on Nivea was a small tin was only $1...and it lasted forever. I slathered this stuff on my face every night last winter when my skin was sloughing off and basically being a giant bitch.
Nivea really soaks into the skin and moisturizes deeply, which is essential for clearing up acne. It can also help with eczema!
I don't need this so much during the summer months as my face gets a little oily, but I coat my legs in it after shaving to prevent razor burn. A 13.5 oz. tub cost me only $7 at Wal-Mart!
Hard Candy Glamoflauge Heavy Duty Concealer
I haven't dabbled much in the world of concealers but I think I've found my holy grail with Hard Candy. My under eye circles are pretty prominent but this blessed little tube has all I need to cover them.
Like Nivea, Glamoflauge will last you a good while. I've been on one tube for months now.
Even though I have rosacea, I have yellow undertones to my skin. This makes it almost impossible to find foundations or concealers that work with both of those issues. Glamoflauge covers up my redness without adding extra pinkness to the yellow tones of my skin. And while I've never used it for this, Glamoflauge is formulated to cover up tattoos!
I've found the longer I have a tube, the watery the formula gets, but for the most part it is thick and creamy and a little goes a long way.
E.L.F. Beautifully Bare Blush
Blush is hard for me. There's no other way to put it. I suck at powders and finally decided to try my hand at creams. E.L.F.s blush was the answer to my prayers.
This blush glides on so smooth and has pretty good staying power for only $4. Again, finding shades to go with my yellow undertones is usually tough but theses blushes work perfect.
After application I do find the blush turns a bit more powdery but it blends so amazingly and is completely buildable.
I will be a Drugstore Diva until I die, no doubt about it. What are your favorite drugstore finds that you can't live without?
